The exhibition On Horizon and (un)Belonging presents the distillation of research conducted by Florencia Sosa Rey between September 2024 and August 2025. During the Artlab residency, Florencia actively engaged in exploring her cultural roots from a distance and in different temporal contexts, connecting with the rural environment of the Eastern Townships.  Drawing on conceptual frameworks combined with exploratory and participatory approaches, she used drawing, performance and video to produce artworks whose knowledge emerges from direct experience and body language.

Through a series of observation sessions at the Institut du ressenti, a horse-assisted therapy centre in Compton, she developed a sense of co-presence with the animal, which is palpable in the video Sleeping Horse. A series of annotations inspired by movements and shifts captured on the spot during Argentine folk-dance classes served as the basis for the creation of the Folk Dance series of drawings. Drawings that lie at the intersection of landscape, abstraction, memory and dream. These choreographic notes were also part of the collaborative process initiated with artists Shirin Abassi, Camille Laccelle-Wilsey and Rebecca Redher, which resulted in the workshop-artwork Far From Knowing, filmed at Fromagerie Les Broussaille in Martinville and presented at the gallery in the form of a video diptych.
