Combinant diff\u00e9rentes m\u00e9thodes artisanales issues de l\u2019art contemporain des ann\u00e9es 1950 et 1960, Martineau explore les espaces entre les genres artistiques, repoussant ainsi la fronti\u00e8re entre style et id\u00e9ologie dans une \u0153uvre s\u00e9duisante et sensuelle. L\u2019exp\u00e9rience sensorielle que suscitent les \u0153uvres de l\u2019artiste fait de ces derni\u00e8res des objets \u00e0 l\u2019affect \u00e9vident. Elles invitent \u00e0 se projeter au-del\u00e0 de la sensation premi\u00e8re des mat\u00e9riaux \u2013 feutre, laine, tissu et bois \u2013 vers leur interrelation, porteuse de signification.<\/p>\n<p>Pour cette exposition, Martineau a cr\u00e9\u00e9 une \u0153uvre murale de grande taille intitul\u00e9e <em>Razzle Dazzle<\/em>, qui rassemble une multitude de techniques traditionnelles d\u2019art textile comme l\u2019impression sur tissu, le feutre d\u00e9coup\u00e9, la broderie et l\u2019applique en un patchwork d\u00e9coulant de la tendance de Martineau \u00e0 \u00ab cannibaliser \u00bb des images et des formes de ses \u0153uvres pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes.<\/p>\n<p>Les discussions engendr\u00e9es par l\u2019\u0153uvre de Martineau \u00e9tablissent un pont entre les genres et les mouvements, comme l\u2019expressionnisme abstrait, le post-minimalisme, le f\u00e9minisme, l\u2019art et la culture populaires, les rendant fluides, poreux et applicables au discours actuel. Ses \u0153uvres ont \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es un peu partout au Canada et ailleurs dans le monde. Elles ont fait l\u2019objet d\u2019expositions au Mus\u00e9e des beaux-arts du Canada, \u00e0 la Vancouver Art Gallery, \u00e0 la Power Plant de Toronto, au Banff Centre for the Arts, au Mus\u00e9e d\u2019art contemporain de Montr\u00e9al et au Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. Elles se trouvent \u00e9galement dans d\u2019importantes collections priv\u00e9es et publiques \u00e0 travers le pays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Genevi\u00e8ve Moisan<\/strong> vient tout juste de terminer sa ma\u00eetrise en arts visuels \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Concordia, concentration fibres. Son travail de recherche se concentre sur l\u2019\u00e9tude des notions d\u2019hypermodernit\u00e9, d\u2019exc\u00e8s d\u2019individualit\u00e9 et d\u2019urgence et les liens qu\u2019elles tissent entre les gens dans leur fa\u00e7on quotidienne d\u2019habiter l\u2019espace tant urbain que virtuel. \u00c0 cheval entre les techniques traditionnelles du textile et le c\u00f4t\u00e9 digital du traitement de l\u2019image photographique, elle utilise un m\u00e9tier informatis\u00e9 Jacquard pour repr\u00e9senter dans le tissu ces relations interpersonnelles complexes. Son travail a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al, Venise, Paris et Oaxaca, au Mexique. De plus, elle travaille \u00e0 titre d\u2019assistante de recherche aupr\u00e8s de plusieurs artistes canadiens et internationaux dont Luanne Matineau, Fran\u00e7ois Morelli et Kelly Thompson. En tant qu\u2019assistante de recherche travaillant avec plusieurs artistes diff\u00e9rents, Genevi\u00e8ve Moisan a aussi collabor\u00e9 avec des laboratoires de recherche et \u00e9tudi\u00e9 la question du \u00ab faire \u00bb pendant sa maitrise.
