L’ann\u00e9e de sa mort, mon grand-oncle, l’artiste Nigel Henderson, m’a \u00e9crit une lettre adress\u00e9e \u00e0 mon futur moi. Dans cette lettre, il me demandait de d\u00e9chiffrer un tableau qu’il avait peint repr\u00e9sentant les falaises fossilis\u00e9es de Walton on the Naze, dans l’Essex, \u00e0 l’est de l’Angleterre. Comme indice, il m’avait envoy\u00e9 une photocopie du manuscrit du roman \u00ab The Fourbanks of the River of Space \u00bb (Les quatre rives du fleuve de l’espace) de l’\u00e9crivain sud-am\u00e9ricain Wilson Harris, qui vivait \u00e0 proximit\u00e9. Afterthoughts of a Walk on the Naze<\/em> (R\u00e9flexions apr\u00e8s une promenade sur la Naze) est une fiction quantique qui tente de r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 sa lettre. Je revisite la maison et l’atelier o\u00f9 il a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 le tableau et filme le paysage marin\/fluvial environnant ainsi que les falaises auxquelles le tableau fait r\u00e9f\u00e9rence. Le livre de Harris, les paysages et le tableau s’associent en contrepoint, r\u00e9v\u00e9lant des id\u00e9es sur l’h\u00e9ritage artistique, la cr\u00e9ation, la mort, le temps et le climat.<\/p>\n

Louis Henderson<\/strong> est un cin\u00e9aste qui cherche actuellement de nouvelles fa\u00e7ons de travailler avec les gens pour aborder et remettre en question notre situation mondiale actuelle, d\u00e9finie par le capitalisme racial et l’histoire omnipr\u00e9sente du projet colonial europ\u00e9en. Sa m\u00e9thode de travail est arch\u00e9ologique. Henderson a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 ses \u0153uvres dans des lieux tels que : le Festival international du film de Rotterdam, Doc Lisboa, CPH:DOX, le Festival du film de New York, la Biennale Contour, la Biennale de Kiev, le Centre Pompidou, SAVVY Contemporary, le Gene Siskell Film Centre, Gasworks et la Tate Britain. Ses \u0153uvres font partie de la collection publique du Centre national des arts plastiques, en France, et sont distribu\u00e9es par Lux (Royaume-Uni) et Video Data Bank (\u00c9tats-Unis).<\/p>\n
