Des lacis de rainures denses dessinent des topographies myst\u00e9rieuses, parfois expansives, parfois d\u00e9coup\u00e9es et d\u00e9cupl\u00e9es comme dans des courtepointes, un peu en \u00e9cho \u00e0 l\u2019identit\u00e9 d\u00e9localis\u00e9e, transnationale de l\u2019artiste. Le papier Washi qui re\u00e7oit les impressions anime ces configurations d\u2019une transparence lumineuse. Par ses gravures, Hatanaka arpente diff\u00e9rents territoires\u202fsuperpos\u00e9s\u202f: ceux fa\u00e7onn\u00e9s par les turbulences de l\u2019eau, par la glace, le vent et la neige; ceux fa\u00e7onn\u00e9s par les sensations, les perceptions et les affects. Les mondes qui d\u00e9posent leur empreinte sur le papier sont \u00e0 la fois ext\u00e9rieurs et int\u00e9rieurs, empiriques et psychiques. Le papier Washi connecte ces mappemondes abstraites \u00e0 des terres tr\u00e8s sp\u00e9cifiques, par sa mat\u00e9rialit\u00e9 propre contingente aux plantes, aux cours d\u2019eau et aux traditions qui en permettent la production.<\/p>\n<p>Cette exposition regroupe plusieurs impressions de grand format sur papier Washi ainsi que des blocs d\u2019impression, o\u00f9 la mati\u00e8re, les pigments, les motifs et les entrelacs de veinures se r\u00e9pondent en \u00e9cho les uns aux autres. Remous \u00e0 la surface des torrents, ridules de vent dans la neige, craquelures dans les sols gel\u00e9s du nord, mais \u00e9galement lignes de fuite, lignes de d\u00e9sir et trajectoires de sympt\u00f4mes pathologiques. Hatanaka ancre sa pratique dans sa formation en techniques d\u2019impression et de fabrication de papier, en lien avec son utilisation intentionnelle de mat\u00e9riaux et de processus historiques connect\u00e9s aux territoires. Ses adaptations de traditions, sous la forme d\u2019installations d\u2019estampes \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle et de sculptures portables, abordent les questions contemporaines des changements climatiques, de la sant\u00e9 mentale et de la survie. Ensemble, des motifs r\u00e9currents li\u00e9s au paysage, aux poissons et aux plans d\u2019eau parlent d\u2019exp\u00e9riences personnelles et collectives de lutte et de r\u00e9silience.<\/p>\n<p>La pratique de Hatanaka prend forme par des recherches et une pratique collaborative, bas\u00e9es sur l\u2019exp\u00e9rience.
