Le film se d\u00e9roule une ann\u00e9e o\u00f9 il n\u2019y a pas eu d\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9. Le grain est rest\u00e9 dans le sol. Apparemment, il \u00e9tait stock\u00e9 en toute s\u00e9curit\u00e9 dans un grand b\u00e2timent en briques. On \u00e9volue dans une structure labyrinthique, examinant l\u2019id\u00e9e et l\u2019architecture de l\u2019ever-normal granary<\/em> (\u00ab\u00a0approvisionnement toujours normal\u00a0\u00bb). Cette id\u00e9e, qui vient de la Chine, consiste en un syst\u00e8me de stockage de c\u00e9r\u00e9ales permettant d\u2019\u00e9quilibrer l\u2019offre et la demande et de garantir un approvisionnement stable gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des stocks constants. Mais le cours des choses au grenier est perturb\u00e9 lorsque le grain commence \u00e0 dispara\u00eetre. En voix hors champ, un gestionnaire et une souris discutent \u00e9conomie, botanique, s\u00e9curit\u00e9 alimentaire, sp\u00e9culation alimentaire et logistique.<\/p>\n

Cet essai cin\u00e9matographique oppose la production alimentaire industrielle aux perspectives \u00e9cologiques indig\u00e8nes et au savoir incarn\u00e9 : dans la deuxi\u00e8me partie du film, les interpr\u00e8tes sortent d\u2019un long sommeil. Leur chor\u00e9graphie renvoie \u00e0 Braiding Sweetgrass <\/em>(2013), livre de l\u2019\u00e9cologiste am\u00e9ricaine Robin Wall Kimmerer. En explorant la relation entre la danse et la composition, qui utilise des sons naturels, technologiques, humains et plus qu\u2019humains, l\u2019artiste tente ici de recadrer et de repenser esth\u00e9tiquement notre relation \u00e0 l\u2019environnement.<\/p>\n

Marlies P\u00f6schl<\/strong> est artiste, cin\u00e9aste, commissaire et \u00e9ducatrice. Elle vit actuellement \u00e0 Vienne, en Autriche, et travaille \u00e0 l\u2019international. Elle enseigne \u00e0 l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie des beaux-arts de Vienne. Cofondatrice et pr\u00e9sidente de la Golden Pixel Cooperative, une association pour les images en mouvement, elle a \u00e9labor\u00e9 des strat\u00e9gies artistiques et commissariales pour des expositions, des projections et des projets dans l\u2019espace public centr\u00e9s sur le f\u00e9minisme et l\u2019\u00e9cologie.<\/p>\n

Ses \u0153uvres lui ont valu divers prix : en 2021, elle re\u00e7oit le Prix du cin\u00e9ma innovant (Diagonale) en tant que membre de la Golden Pixel Cooperative ainsi que le prix Jeune artiste (municipalit\u00e9 de Vienne) pour son propre travail. Ses films et installations ont fait l\u2019objet de plusieurs pr\u00e9sentations individuelles, notamment au Kunstverein Ludwigshafen (2022), \u00e0 la Salzburger Kunstverein (2021), au CAC Br\u00e9tigny (2018) et au MUSA de Vienne (2016). Elle a particip\u00e9 \u00e0 des biennales et \u00e0 des festivals du film tels que la Vienna Biennale for Change, le festival d\u2019art m\u00e9diatique Antimatter (Victoria), le Festival international du film d\u2019\u00c9dimbourg, Cin\u00e9ma V\u00e9rit\u00e9 (T\u00e9h\u00e9ran) et Diagonale (Salzbourg), notamment.<\/p>\n

Matthew Kyba<\/strong> is a curator and independent researcher. He is currently the Curator of Exhibitions at The Ministry of Culture & Tourism in Ohio. Recent exhibitions have traveled across Canada to Museum London, The Art Gallery of Hamilton, The Winnipeg Art Gallery, and many artist-run centers.
